Spotlight on Local Dog Hikers

L-R: @adventuredogsnz’s Ricky Baker, Noodle, and Max
We chatted with Adventure Dogs NZ—Max, Noodle, and Ricky Baker—about Wanaka’s dog-friendly trails, with Hawea River Track and Glendhu Bay stealing the show. They loved Hawea River Track for its scenic river views, gentle-to-moderate pace, and ample photo breaks, noting leash rules and keeping water handy for every pup. Glendhu Bay offered easy, wide-open walks with epic alpine-to-lake vistas, about 10 km each way, and a vibe that suits families and dogs at a comfortable, all-ages pace. The trio’s photos captured those classic Wanaka moments—sun, water, and wagging tails—reinforcing that hydration, safety, and pacing are key for enjoying our outdoor playground with dogs.
