When the idea for Naturally Pawsome first came to mind, it was about more than just creating another dog food. It was about taking the best care of our dog and creating something natural, cost-conscious, nutritious, healthy, and convenient that could work for all dog lovers — while sourcing locally wherever possible.
Dedicated to our pets' well-being, the journey began with extensive research... Adam delved into both ancestral diets and the latest technologies while working closely with animal nutrition scientists to understand what truly nourishes our furry friends. Each recipe is thoughtfully crafted to provide a balanced diet that supports our health and happiness.
At an early stage on the journey, we realised that achieving the right balance of nutrition, price, and taste was crucial; each aspect influenced the other, and finding harmony was key.
Once our machinery was up and running, the testing phase kicked off. We began with salmon and then moved on to other proteins, eventually settling on lamb for the initial product line. Skye, our trusty taste tester, enthusiastically approved.
We decided to incorporate organ meats into our recipes to enhance nutritional value and flavour. Organ meats are rich in amino acids, vitamins, and minerals—which reflects dogs' ancestral diets, typically comprising 10-20% of their intake. We considered dehydrating the offal, but this method can cook the organs, reducing their nutritional benefits and flavour. Freeze-drying proved to be the ideal technique for us to preserve both nutritional content and taste.
Being a lab, Skye willingly tested at every step of the process, ensuring each batch met her high standards of taste and quality. This phase was a timely process but again, Skye was okay with that.
We extensively explored ingredients to incorporate into the kibble to provide our furry friends an extremely well-rounded diet. When we sent off our first product batch for nutritional testing, we were blown away by the significant milestones and indicators we had achieved and surpassed and things have grown organically from there.
